I hope all of you are finding things of interest in this email, because
I am starting to really enjoy putting (it) out. The staff at Priceless
is a swell team of folk. We at the FunBum studios are having a simply
joyus time right now. Our staff has increased, we got a Web page, and
ESD's sideburns are longer than ever! (Ok, so maybee thats trivial)
Please welcome our new staffers, and webmasters; Blackangel, & Hup
BA hails from New York state, employed by Musiclands largest competitor
and is a certified Poket Monster (PokeMon) instructor. That in addition
to his writing and webmaster skills, he makes a GREAT addition to Fun-
Bum. We are looking forward to keeping this staffer for many moons to
come. Before long we'll all being playing PokeMon and even getting
into collecting those silly cards. Does anyone out there remember how
to simply role-play anymore?
Also online with us as of 4/28/99 is Hup. He really wants to be God
so we shall oblige him. He hails from Canada and is a master at pro-
gramming. So he's also mastering our Web site and writing editors that
will keep FunBum current with recent technology.
The FunBum WWW site is located at: https://members.tripod.com/~funbum
All the backissues can be found in the folder /issues
We are very happy with the support at Priceless, and the generosity of
it's mother company, Interactive Arts Int. Also thanx to Tripod for
giving us a site FREE with LOSTA space. Thanx also to Yahoo for
letting us use their email server for free, without which, none of
this would be even remotely possible.
In this issue BlackAngel debuts with a couple nifty articles on
PokeMon, and the famous Voodoo3. I (ESD) have also included in this
issue, some articles not directly related to the usual genre that Fun-
Bun is accustomed to. One of the articles was REALLY fun to put to-
gether, because it entailed lots of emailing back and forth, a bit of
MuMuLand chatboard utilization, and a couple late nite long distance
fone calls. Included this ish is a rare article by "Brother" MoUce. To
start it off this time, I thought I would include our FIRST actual
response, and show the rest of you what we are sort-of looking for.
ANYthing goes! Please send us MORE comments, (that means YOU Powder),
and articles that are newsworthy, (that means YOU Telemuse!;) This
issue is a bit longer than the previous ones. 20.5k
And so it begins...

BlackAngel inducted into the FunBum staff (4/27/99)
Hola boys and girls~
I totally agree on that shit about people downloading virus source code
modifying it, and re-releasing it....calling themselves "hackers"
BULLSHIT! (FunBum 1:3/1.1)
That's child play. If ya wanna be 'l33t' ya gotta fucking come up with
something original...
Now Melissa, that was a fucking real nice slick virus. Real original.
And it's a MACRO virus (top that peoples). I was very impressed with
the writer of that virus, because it's been HOW LONG since a macro
virus has been created and found in the wild? The lamer who wrote
Papa.A and Papa.B was just a shithead who totally redid the same virus.
Word to him...BE ORIGINAL!!
If ya really wanna be l33t, drag your ass to your local library, and go
check out all the books on programming...it's totally free, and better
yet...LEGAL. (best of both worlds).
I really haven't followed up on Chernobyl yet, but by the sounds of it,
it soundz real slick.
Coming soon: How to fuck TARGET over...muahahahaha.
Das BlackAngel hath spoken.

Voodoo 3 Unveiled ~BlackAngel
As hard as it is to believe, 3dfx's Voodoo2 technology is starting to
show its age. While a pair of Voodoo2 based cards linked in SLI mode
STILL provide the fastest 3D acceleration going, rivals like NVIDA's
powerhouse RIVA TNT chip are beginning to whittle away at 3Dfx's repu-
tation in the eyes of many hardcore gamers. Time then, for 3Dfx to
announce its next generation of products designed to leave the competi-
tion in the dust just as they are catching up, and start the chase all
over again. But, depending on your point of view, the next generation
of Voodoo technology may not have what it takes to top the products
it'll be competing with. There are 2 versions of Voodoo3 planned for
release in latter 2nd quater of 1999 (one is out now, released 4/1/99).
The 2000 model is geared for integration into motherboards and retail
computer systems and the slightly more powerful 3000, intented for the
serious gamer, is the version that will likely appear on retail add-in
cards from the big-name manufacturers you'd expect: Diamond, Creative,
Canopus, etc.
The Voodoo3 configuration:
( 8.2 million transistors
( Integrated 350MHz RAMDAC
( Fully integrated 128-bit VGA/2D/3D/Video accelerator
( Optimized for Pentium II architecture
( True multitexturing - 2 textures per clock cycle
( 300MHz (Voodoo3 2000) 2048x1536 resolution at 65Hz refresh rate
( 350MHz (Voodoo3 3000) 2048x1536 resolution at 75Hz refresh rate
( 125MHz graphics core (Voodoo3 2000)
( 183MHz graphics core (Voodoo3 3000)
( 4MB-16MB SGRAM frame buffer
( 4 million triangles/sec (Voodoo3 2000)
( 7 million+ triangles/sec (Voodoo3 3000)
( 250 million texels/sec (Voodoo3 2000)
( 366 million+ texels/sec (Voodoo3 3000)
( 3Dfx Voodoo compatibility
( 2X AGP with sideband support
( DVD acceleration
( Digital LCD Monitor support
( DirectX 6, OpenGL, Glide2.x/3.x support
( .25 Micron technology
( Price: $200-$300
The Voodoo3 is little more then a faster hybrid of the existing Voodoo2
and Banshee architectures. Like the Banshee, the Voodoo2 is an inte-
grated 2D/3D card with 4MB-16MB of frame buffer memory, and support for
MPEG2 DVD video playback at 30 frames per second. Like the Voodoo2,
the Voodoo3 will be X-TREMELY fast, and include multitexturing as one
of its key features. However, Voodoo3 will suffer the limitations of
the past chipsets as well; like both the Banshee and Voodoo2; Voodoo3
will only render graphics in 16-bit color and support textures no
larger than 256x256 pixels in size. And people say 3Dfx sucks? :p~~~~
(for me personally, I'm sticking to my Wicked3D 12MB Voodoo2 until i
felch the $469 for the Obsidian *DROOL*)

"That Y2K thingy" ~MoUce
Whats all this about the world crashing down upon us, the worlds def-
ense systems, and our local power company failing? There are even books
about this "Doomsday" that is about to come upon us. Ok, ok many of you
reading this are prolly wondering what the hell i am talking about be-
cause you've all been overhauled on it already. Well here's the basic
history for those of you who haven't heard the truth. When computers
were first created, they went on a numeric system based on the 1900
scale. The programmers just used the last 2 digits for the internal
clock to keep time, being that everyone understood that it was 19xx.
Well as time progressed, (around 1995) someone was brilliant enough
to discover that computers were prolly around to stay for a good long
time. (Duh!) And that the worlds systems may have a problem with the
year 2000 approaching. this means the computers would wrap from 1999-
2000 or rather 99-00 which the computer would take to mean 1900.
Well, many of the governments and large corporations got a bit panicky,
and started to hire alot of COBOL/ADA/etc. programmers to fix this
problem that was sure to cause a global disaster. ("Well if everyone
stuck with a Mac, they wouldn't need to worry") -Cyberkid. Macintosh
computers were the only ones that didn't have to worry about this deal.
Steve Jobs was smart enough to think of this whilst he was creating
Apple computers. At any rate, most of the world has PC's or rather an
IBM clone of some sort. Well it came about that the problem was getting
fixed, and less and less people had to worry about their phones not
working, or their banks running out of cash. (my credit union is Y2K
compliant.) There are a few folks who still think this doomsday is
bound to happen, so they are stocking bomb shelters with food and
ammunition, should this indeed happen. I feel sorry for those of you
who have purchased checklists, for the year 2000. I also feel sorry for
the poor authors who wrote the books on "How to prepare" for this cat-
astrophic event. They will be laughed at, as will those of the general
populace who buy into these lies. So am I saying that there's nothing
to worry about? Not really, I would advise everyone who has doubts, to
take just a little extra cash out of the bank as you would for an extra
long weekend. That's it, no fanfare, no advice on which canned beet is
best, just a simple "give yourself extra allowance" and just enjoy the
party at the beginning of this new millenium. But also note, it's
just another year that you will be closer to death or rapture, and re-
member:

About Manson... ~ESD
I personally don't think blaming Marilyn Manson for those killings in
Colorado is justified. Sure he's a popular icon in todays Goth society
but just because he's a freak on stage, does that mean we should blame
everyone who wears black trenchcoats and carries a firearm, on a
famous musician. Sure the guy may be a bit eccentric, but who isn't.
He puts on a good colorful show, and creates a musical style a bit
more harsh than his previous producer Trent Reznor. Just because the
fellow may have a dark side that is a bit more prominant than his
other, does not justify the act of taking one fellow and calling him a
leader of this "trenchcoat mafia". Thats a bit like taking the Beatles
and saying they are the cause for rampant free sex and marijuana "ad-
dicts". I do indeed think it wise of the Manson band to cancel their
gig in Colorado. The man is no idiot, he knows what will/will not be
prudent to do, especially on the grounds of what may cause a bit more
than just a few gunshots. On the other side of the coin: This "bible-
banging" group that stands in front of any given Manson concert
"shoving religion down the throughts" of the attendees. What did they
ever do to you? I see them as a bit of a pest to the concert goers,
but not much more than that. Do they prevent everyone from going
through the stadium door? They just stand there spouting scripture
references and "Jesus loves you" t-shirts, sort of like those street
preachers downtown. I think both sides need to simmer down about the
Manson act, and realize that he's trying to earn a living, just like
any basketball star. And to those of you who think badly about the
"Jesus-freaks", just pass them by paying no mind.

Trouble in your pocket? ~ESD/BlackAngel
One of my local news stations just produced a story about this card
collecting craze, of PokeMon going a bit out of controll. Apparently
the teachers, bus drivers, and classes are being disrupted because the
children are busy playing with the cards, trading them, etc. One of
the kids said that he collects them "Just for the money..." More on
PokeMon below from our resident "PokeMon Masta" himself.

Pokemon Masta! ~BlackAngel
Oh damn, you found me out ESD. (SOMEONE IS GOING TO ). Ok so like
while watching FOX (good wholesome entertainment) I saw this Anime show
"Pokemon". I kept watching, and i really got hooked. Now I totally
have a ton of shit, and I am going broke (oops!). So honestly, I have
like so much stuff, my mom is really flippin her lid.
My list of stuff owned includes....
( 1 puzzle
( 2 posters (1 with all 150, the other with Ash, etc)
( 1 Cloth Wall hanging
( 2 models (Raichu, Gyrados)
( a deck of playing cards
( Stuffed Squeeky Pikachu
( Stuffed Meowth
( Mini stuffed Jolteon
( Mini stuffed Myu
( 18" stuffed Pikachu, reversable into a pokeball
( Pokemon blue, Red for Gameboy (tm)
( all 3 Pokemon VHS
( light up Pikachu
( 2 keychains (Pikachu, Charizard)
( 3 figure sets (Pikachu, Team Rocket, and a combo pack of Vulpix,
Myu, Charizard)
( Deck of Pokemon CCG
This Pokemon is whut was GI JOE to me when i waz a kid. Altho we
didn't trade GI JOE for cash like the kids are today. As published in
the NY TIMES "Kids are trading Pokemon on the playground for $5 a pop"
This is very disturbing, but all in all very educational. Who knows
maybe in 10 years these kids will be the ones running the stock market.
Able to Sleep safer now?
PS - Now that the phuckers at my job changed my hours, I am unable to
watch Pokemon now. (it aires 2:30pm EST). I must note that i am going
thru terrible withdrawl symptoms that include shouting PIKACHU! in
very public places, and making a total ass out of myself (oh, like
that's hard to do).
[ESD NOTES: You should see him in the office! THATS a sight to behold!
We're thinking of recording the series and playing it back at this
years office Christmas party. Poor kid.]
